An eco-responsible Alter-Native
According to a study by MAOBI (Agence d'Innovation Responsable), 90% of consumers say they are sensitive to the idea of consuming more responsibly, and 80% consider that their purchasing habits can have a positive impact on the environment.

The Alter-Native capsule collection was created in total harmony with these data, with a clear ambition: to reduce the environmental impact of footwear, right from the design stage.
Alter-Native eco-designed shoes
In collaboration with MAOBI and with the support of ADEME (Agence Nationale de la Transition Ecologique), several shoe models (in different typologies) were analyzed at each stage of their life cycle.
From their manufacturing process, raw materials and packaging to their distribution and end-of-life: everything has been studied to significantly reduce their environmental impact.
1- Leather tanning: Besson works with LWG tanneries. This certification ensures the traceability of their products, and a reduction in water consumption and hazardous substances.
2- Leather dyeing: This stage is carried out exclusively by hand, with natural drying.
3- Sole design: the raw materials used are rubber, natural cork, leather and recycled synthetic microfibers.
4- Outer soles: these are made from bio-sourced or recycled materials (such as natural rubber, cork or EVA ethylene vinyl acetate).
5- Assembly: eco-designed shoes are assembled using water-based glue, and plastic toe caps are eliminated. Laces are recycled, and metal zip eyelets are replaced.
6- Shoe boxes: made from recycled cardboard and vegetable-based inks. Surplus boxes are returned to the factory and 100% recycled.
